Fashion For Thought March 2014

“The whole theme of this season is that color transcends time and place. It takes you in an entirely different direction be that through art, travel, landscapes or even to retro design…” -Leatrice Eiseman from Pantone

Whenever music and fashion are brought together there is a synergy and pulse that creates momentum and excitement.

Sacramento Fashion Week was an exhilarating experience for The Wardrobe and the fashion community. Our store has participated in and produced many fashion shows over the years but for us, Sacramento Fashion Week (SFW) was different. It really took Sacramento’s style bar a notch higher.

The Wardrobe brought our Art Couture style to Sacramento and built a vibrant bridge between Davis and our Capital City. SFW included three nights on the runway. Thursday night was boutique night and featured The Wardrobe and some of our spring fashions. (See our Sacramento Fashion Week 2014 on Youtube.) One of our favorite outfits on the runway was our new line Joseph Ribkoff (In this month’s newsletter, I am photographed with our lovely model Emily Pashenee in the runway favorite by Joseph Ribkoff). We were thrilled to raise money for the Sacramento Junior league whose presence added a refreshing and upbeat energy to the week’s festivities.

The Wardrobe was excited to be part of designer Sacha Laurin’s launch from our Beauty and the Beats Fashion Show runway last summer to Sacramento Fashion Week’s runway. We are proud to be part of Komubcha Couture fashions as they pioneer the world of design.

One of my favorite new designers Michael Kouri shared his sentiment that there was “a family like atmosphere” behind the scenes of Sacramento Fashion Week. The Wardrobe is excited to now be carrying his Nolan Kouri Collection starting this summer and early fall. Michael’s show stopping pink silk organza and cotton gown featured on the runway in the SFW’s Saturday Fall/Winter runway show will be available this spring. We look forward to offering many more of his highly sculptural yet whimsical special occasion wear in soft shades of pink and lilac.

Mint and spring green are the colors of the season here at The Wardrobe as the earth begins to laugh in flowers. Textures and tasteful modern vintage prints such as the honeycomb knit by Tianello and the basket weave shoes by Bernie Mev will continue to be favorites as the season unfolds.

We look forward to seeing you soon here at The Wardrobe.

Where California Style meets European Chic.

Colorfully yours,
Heather Caswell
