Cut Loose Trunk Show: Saturday, April 8th

Spring women’s fashions sewn and dyed to order in San Francisco at the Cut Loose
factory will be featured during the Saturday, April 8 spring/summer trunk show event
at The Wardrobe store in downtown Davis.

“Nineteen flattering spring color options in their famous easy-care fabrics and flattering
implied shape fit makes this an exciting show,” explains Heather Caswell, owner and
style coach at The Wardrobe. A Davis merchant for nearly 30 years, Caswell says she’s
always hunting down the best in North American designers and manufacturers for her
guests and the Cut Loose trunk show was such a hit last year, she just had to bring the
line back for special ordering this year.

Even the history of the Cut Loose San Francisco factory is interesting — the company
started in the late 1970s as a street vendor of T-shirts and drawstring pants on
Fisherman’s Wharf. At the time, they were dying their own colors in a claw footed bath
tub. The line is “known for fun dressing in a relaxed style…clothes that are simple to launder and easy to pack, unpack and wear.”

Caswell points out that the dyes used “keep their environmental footprint as light as
possible. Cut Loose dyes are non-toxic, and they neutralize their waste water so the
salt doesn’t corrode the city’s pipes. Fabric tests are re-purposed into scarves, napkins,
market bags and even scrunchies.”

Fabrics featured from the line include novelty cotton knits, linen, rayon (made from wood
cellulose), Tencel (made from cotton linter) and various blends.

“It’s our top line for the 21st century,” adds Caswell, pointing out that the shapes are simple and pieces can be combined for a sophisticated and flattering look for all ages
and body types. She is adding a free gift with each purchase during the April 8th event.

April at The Wardrobe also features a slight change in store hours — new late Thursday
shopping until 8 p.m., with Caswell available for personal style coaching advice.
Open seven days a week – other hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday,
Friday and Saturday; 12 noon to 5 p.m., Sundays and Mondays.

Caswell said she was delighted to hear that her store has again been named “Best of Yolo County” by voting done by the Davis Enterprise on various categories of business.
